M. Elaine Curtis

Obituary of M. Elaine Curtis

Elaine Curtis (nee Sizemore) passed on from this life to be with her heavenly father December 21st 2017, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in White Oak Junction, Kentucky on March 14th, 1940, Elaine graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1958 and went on to earn her degree in Medical Technology from Carnegie Institute. Throughout her life, Elaine experienced numerous medical challenges, but that never deterred her from being the steadfast force of nature we knew as mother, sister, daughter and friend.  Elaine fought tirelessly for the disenfranchised, from fostering 21 children from Catholic Service League to donating her time and monies to several charities including Haven of Rest, The Battered Women’s Shelter, The Humane Society, and Rahab Ministries. Elaine, a well-educated, gifted conversationalist, was able to connect with persons from all walks of life regardless of socioeconomic class, race and religious or political affiliation.

She and her husband of 56 years, David, raised seven children. She was beloved and loved all who came in contact with her, believing she knew no strangers, only friends she had yet to meet. Elaine was an active warrior for Christ, involved in several churches in the area and led many to Christ up until her passing. She enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends, including the numerous animals she rescued over the years. Elaine always had a meal to share, an ear to listen, and a witty anecdote or pearl of wisdom to parlay. Her energy, laughter and sheer strength of will for the well being of others will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Arletha Sizemore, father, William Sizemore, and niece, Shelley Bender. She lives on through her husband, David Curtis, children Camille Curtis-Schake, Sabrina Wise, Jason Curtis, Ryan Curtis, Avril Flynn (James) , Graham Curtis (Sarah Kierkian), Leah Curtis, and grandchildren Dominic Wise (Breann), Ericka Wise, Brianna Wise, Estella Flynn, Xavier Curtis and Layla Curtis, as well as siblings Pat Walker, Sondra Sedgwick, Vaughn Sizemore and Vern Sizemore.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 28th from 5 to 7 PM at Redmon Funeral Home in Stow. Memorial services will be held on Friday, December 29th from 5 to 7 PM at Northampton Bible Church, 333 W. Steels Corners Road, Cuyahoga Falls, 44223.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Rahab Ministries at rahabministries.org.

“Well done, Good and Faithful Servant.”
