Evelyn J. Jursek, R.Ph (Novak), 87, was born in Fairbank, Pennsylvania on October 11, 1930. She was the only child of Joseph and Anna Novak. Evelyn graduated from Redstone High School, then went on to Duquesne University from which she matriculated with a pharmacy degree in 1950. Her career guided her into hospital pharmacies. She worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Lorain, Ohio, then to Ohio State University Pharmacy in Columbus, then to Akron General Hospital and finally to Barberton Hospital. She was highly intelligent and scored in the top 1% of licensure examination in Ohio. She was named in the Who’s Who for the year. Her prime endeavors, other than pharmaceuticals and family, were baking her renowned nut and apricot rolls.
Evelyn married Eugene S. Jursek, M.D. and had two children, Stephanie and Valerie Lynn. Valerie is married to Brian Crisp and they have one child, Bradley.
Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Friday from 5 to 8 PM. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Catholic Church, 3179 Kent Road, Stow on Saturday at 10 AM, Father Paul Rosing celebrant. Burial All Saints Cemetery.
