Arleen B. Shuman

STOW - Arleen B. Shuman, 96, went to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior, December 29, 2023.

Born in Oakland, Maryland, she was a lifelong resident of Stow, a founding member of Stow Alliance Fellowship Church, a member of Suffield Fellowship Church, Stow Community Garden Club, Darrow Street Grange, President of Ohio State PHCC Aux. 1987-88, Christian Women’s Club, Board member of Child Evangelism Fellowship, 4-H Club instructor and Aux. Member of NE Ohio Sub Vet. WWII. She was also the original owner of Stow Needlecraft Shop. Arleen loved doing all kinds of needlecraft work; knitting, crocheting, sewing, and embroidery and creating beautiful things.

Preceded in death by her parents, Arlie Cross and Marie (Rieder) Cross; husband of 69 years, Ted in 2015; five siblings, and son-in-law, Paul (Cheri) Burket in 2018. She is survived by her children, Teddy (Ron) Sawka of Japan, Becky (Mark) Bryan of Middleton, Idaho, Jim (Judy) of Hartville, Ohio, Jack (Pat) of Stow, Ohio, Pam (Claude) Vandevert of Erie, Pennsylvania, Tim (Sandee) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Tom (Esther) of Mogadore, Ohio, Cheri Burket of Maineville, Ohio, and Michelle (Mark) Gulland of Madison, Mississippi; 30 grandchildren and 23 of their spouses, and 48 great-grandchildren.

Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow 44224, for visitation, Friday, January 5, 2024, from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM. Pastor Jim Shuman will conduct the celebration service, Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 11 AM, at Stow Alliance, 4460 Stow Road, Stow 44224, and where friends may call from 10 AM until service time. Burial at Silver Springs Cemetery.
