STOW- Barbara L. Andy (nee Oran), 78, was called home February 6, 2012.
Born June 15, 1933 in Akron, she was a lifetime area resident and had retired from K-Mart after 23 years. Barbara received her floral certificate from Hixson School of Floral Design and was employed with Acme in Hudson as a floral designer, retiring after 11 years of service.
Barbara had many great talents in which she excelled; customer service, teaching seamstress classes, selling Avon, unique floral design and specialized baking. Her greatest achievement though was the raising of her family.
Preceded in death by her parents Chester Oran and Mildred Kodes, she is survived by her husband of 61 happily married years, Virgil; daughter Brenda Andy of Ft. Worth, TX, son Michael Andy of Stow; daughter Michele Wine (Harold) of Altoona, PA, son Paul (Janet) Andy of Kent; grandchildren Tara Tippel of Pittsburgh, Michael and Tyler Andy of S. Euclid; daughter-in-law Karen Andy of Lorain; son-in-law Mel Grunstein of Akron; cousins Dianne Kennedy of Rocky River and Donita Strok of Roswell, GA, and many aunts and cousins from Sweetwater, TN.
Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Mass of the Christian Burial Friday 11 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial Holy Cross Cemetery in Brook Park. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Mrs. Andy's video tribute may be seen here.
