STOW - Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Barbara Ann (nee Schultz) Caruso, age 82, passed away unexpectedly on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2022.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert Schultz and Barbara Mosier, and siblings, Judy Schultz and Joe Rodebaugh. She is survived by her husband, Vincent Caruso; daughters, Diana (Tom) Hudock and Lisa (Todd) Hackbarth; and grandchildren, Michael (Laura) Hudock and Mary Hudock.
Barbara was born on December 22, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio, and raised in Ashtabula, Ohio. She graduated from Kingsville High School in 1959 and married the love of her life on May 4, 1963. Her family moved to Elyria in 1974, and then shortly after, in 1979, moved to Stow where she resided until her passing. Barbara worked at various jobs throughout her life, her main job being at St. Eugene Catholic Parish as Bulletin Editor and Director of Religious Education before she retired. She was faithful to the Catholic faith, loved the Lord Jesus Christ, and was devoted to Mary, mother of God. She also enjoyed her time volunteering for Summa after her heart surgery. Out of all of her job titles and volunteering roles, her favorite role was “grammy.”
Barbara was known for her infectious joy and love of life, always smiling and laughing with others. She enjoyed every day to the fullest and had many hobbies and interests. She spent most of her time with family or friends doing the activities she loved most: Going to the movies and out to eat, traveling, (especially to Maine), birthday lunches with friends, camping, celebrating every holiday, crafting, cooking authentic Italian meals with her husband, and making candy or homemade cards. She delighted in her American Girl Dolls, the Volkswagen Bug, Eeyore, and retro toys, and was an avid collector of Pez, Beanie Babies, and Precious Moments. She was an animal lover and enjoyed going to the zoo. She also helped with the election of a few mayors in the City of Stow. Barbara (Grammy), will be dearly missed by her loved ones. She is leaving behind a beautiful legacy, many cherished memories, dessert recipes, and values that will be passed down to future generations.
