HUDSON - Wife, mother, grandmother, and retired licensed professional counselor, Barbaranne Gervais Mitchell, 82, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Barbaranne was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, to the late Laurence and Barbara Gervais. She later moved to Akron, Ohio, where she met her beloved husband of 56 years, Steven.
Barbaranne began her academic journey at Stephens College before earning her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Akron, graduating summa cum laude, and later completing her Master of Education in Community and College Counseling. She was a founding board member of Chi Sigma Iota, the prestigious honor society for professional counselors. Yet, what she treasured most was the opportunity to make a real difference, counseling children and families in the Akron-Cleveland and Richmond, Virginia areas.
Barbaranne was a loving wife, mother, and dedicated grandmother to her grandchildren in Hudson, Ohio and Paradise Valley, Arizona.
Barbaranne was predeceased by her husband, Steven. She is survived by her two children, Melissa (John) Lentz and Scott (Ashley) Mitchell; six grandchildren, Scott, Emily Katherine, Carter, Sarah Elizabeth, Madeline, and Jackson, as well as her sister, Angela Gervais.
Pastor Mark Lile will conduct a memorial service on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 11 AM, at Christ Community Chapel, 750 W. Streetsboro Street, (Route 303), in Hudson 44236, where friends may call from 10 AM until time of service.
Private inurnment will take place at Rose Hill Burial Park.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
