STOW - Bernardine Lewellen, 79, died May 18, 2024.
Born in Barberton on July 27, 1944, to the late James and Jean (Bunn) Gallagher, Berni lived for many years in Columbus, and was a resident of Stow since 2016. She had been employed with the United Food and Commercial Workers of Central Ohio, retiring as the Assistant Administrative Manager after more than 30 years. She also worked briefly for the State of Ohio before retiring.
While working, she completed her bachelor’s degree at Franklin University. As well as being a talented artist, Berni enjoyed reading, golfing, going to the movies and spending time with her friends, family, and Beta Sigma Phi sorority sisters.
In addition to her parents, Berni was preceded in death by her daughter, Christine Helber; her brother, Dennis Gallagher, and sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Dick Domonkas. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved granddaughter, Caitlyn Helber; sisters, Patricia Daley, Maureen Witschey (Pat), and Jean Heineman (Jon); brothers, John (Terri), James, (Maureen), and Daniel Gallagher; sister-in-law, Rose Gallagher, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 3, 2024, at 1 PM, at Acker-Moore Memorial Post, 3733 Fishcreek Road, Stow 44224.
