Billie Sue Criss

KENT - Billie Sue Criss, 89, of Kent, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, June 11, 2023.

She was born May 11, 1934, in Fayette, AL, to the late Joe and Mertie Freeman. On September 14, 1957, she met and married the love of her life, Henry Criss. They met while she was working at Scotts 5 - 10 Store in Akron. Billie also worked for 25 years as the manager at McDonald’s on Market Street in Ellet.

She was very active with the Ladies Shrine and a member of both the Kadesh Court No. 19 in Akron, and the Ladies' Oriental Shrine. Billie was Captain of Patrol for Kadesh Court No. 19 and traveled all over the country performing line dances. She loved to cook and spend time with her family.

Preceded in death by her parents; one sister; six brothers, and son, Jerry Criss, she is survived by her husband of 65 years, Henry Criss; sons, Jimmy (Carolyn) Criss of Kent, and John (Diane) Criss of Mantua; daughter, Vickie (Joe) Brown; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Barb (John) Regallis, Dorthy (Jake) Adams, and Mary Fay Machamer.

Funeral service will be held 11 AM, Friday, June 16, 2023, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow 44224. Friends may call from 10 AM to service time. Burial Greenlawn Memorial Park in Akron.
