STOW - Carol E. Kuenzli (Walter) passed away on May 12, 2023, at the age of 71, after an extended battle involving multiple health challenges. Her profound love for her family and unwavering faith in God carried her peacefully to her final rest.
Born in Akron, Ohio, to Elmer H. and Marian (Pat) Walter on September 27, 1951, Carol attended Kent State University High School and later THE Ohio State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education and began her path towards her true love and calling in life, that of being an educator. Over her 30 years of teaching, most of which were spent teaching middle school at Holy Family School in Stow, Carol touched thousands of minds and hearts. She proudly tracked the future paths of many of her students and was so awed to have played even a small part in shaping future teachers, homemakers, doctors, artists, lawyers, tradespeople, and laborers. If you were a student of Mrs. Kuenzli’s, please know how proud she was of all of you.
Carol was an avid knitter (her handmade socks are coveted among family and friends). Carol firmly believed in acts of service and gave of herself willingly and without a second thought. She volunteered with The Giving Doll Organization and knitted countless blankets for Cleveland Clinic Hospice and Baptismal bibs and scarves for the youth group at Holy Family. She loved spending time with family and friends, reading, her beloved Buckeye football team, and even the Browns, (although she was heard muttering “why do I keep watching this?” this past season). She was funny and quick-witted and wrote the best and most thoughtful letters. It seemed like she always knew the right thing to say. Carol prayed the rosary faithfully and never went to bed without one - even on vacation.
She loved fiercely, especially her children, Adam and Amy. She was, without a doubt, Adam's "best Mom" (and Amy’s, too).
Carol is survived by her daughter, Amy; son, Adam (both of Stow); William Kuenzli (father of Amy and Adam); siblings, Thomas (Susan) Walter, Judith Gleason, David (Ruth Ann) Walter, and Patricia Gooding, as well as a host of nieces and nephews, and innumerable friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Marian (Pat); niece, Betsy Walter, and brother-in-law, John Gleason, along with many friends, aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of whom, we are sure, greeted her with open arms.
Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, for visitation, Friday, 4 to 7 PM. Mass of the Christian Burial Saturday, 10 AM, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 3179 Kent Road, in Stow, Fr. Michael McCandless celebrant, Fr. Paul Rosing con-celebrant. Private burial will be held at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park.
