Carol Anne Simpson (Nee Sanders)

April 30, 1943 — September 29, 2024

HUDSON - Carol Anne Simpson (nee Sanders), 81, went to her heavenly home on September 29, 2024, after a short battle with leukemia.

Carol (or Carol Anne to family) was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Anne Jacobs Sanders and William Golden Sanders, on April 30, 1943.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents and her only brother, William “Billy” Sanders.  She was also preceded in death by first husband, David Longwell, second husband, John R. Curtis, Sr., and great-grandson, Walker J. Woo.

Carol is survived by her devoted husband of 30 years, Jerry R. Simpson; son, Greg Curtis of Medina, OH; son and daughter-in-law, W. Scott and Mary Frances Curtis of Grove City, OH; daughter, Elizabeth Curtis Thomas, of Silver Lake, OH, and daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Matthew Dudones of Stow, OH.

She is also survived by her Simpson family: Scott (Linda) Simpson of Tucson, AZ; Tracy (Julie) Simpson of Holt, MI; Tim (Annette) Simpson of Charlotte, MI, and Jerry (Julie) Simpson, II, of Independence, KY.

Carol’s grandchildren and great grandchildren were the greatest joys of her life, including Jack, Alex, and Kevin Curtis; Amanda (James) Woo and Brock Curtis; Andrew Thomas; Laura (Caleb) Lichty, and Bethany Dudones; Heidi (Tom), Anna, and Emma Pearson; and Jenna , Ella, and Brody Redman; Matt Simpson (deceased) and Chad (Kristen), and Wyatt Simpson; Jerry III (Ada) and Addie, Jayden, and Liam Simpson; Nichole (Austin), Farrah and Isabelle Wilson; Brian Simpson, and Travis Large.

She also leaves behind many beloved cousins and friends who treated her like a sister. Her Greenwood Condominium family took care of her when her family was far away, for which we are forever grateful.

Carol was a stickler for details and planned for holidays and events months beforehand. She meticulously placed bows on every present, carefully placed gift cards in the Christmas tree, and painstakingly baked her “famous” pecan tarts, black bottom cupcakes, and wedding cookies that were enjoyed by those who knew her.

As a natural leader, she was successful at various careers and activities throughout her life, including working at Virginia Bakery, real estate sales, insurance sales and marketing, and later in life, as an LPN and medical billing specialist. She was also a valued member of the Greenwood Condominiums Co-Owners Association board in Lansing, MI. She always shared her talents with those who needed support and those she loved.

Carol was known to be a woman who could get things done; she wrote many a well-crafted and strongly worded letter or email, resulting in restitution or reparation. She once convinced a graham cracker company to replace ingredients and pans after the company’s cheesecake recipe caused a fire in the oven.

To Carol’s nurses and resident companions, please know how much we appreciate all you have done for her.  We would like to also express heartfelt gratitude to Sarah Gedeon, for helping us make the decision to transition to hospice care and have quality of life over these last months, and to Wendy and Jenn of SouthernCare Hospice Services for the compassionate care given to Carol during her final months, weeks, and days.

Services will be held Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 5 PM, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow 44224, where friends may call from 4 PM until service time.  Private entombment Greenlawn Memorial Park.
