Darlene Cynthia Brown

CUYAHOGA FALLS - Darlene Cynthia Brown, 57, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on August 18, 2023.

Darlene was currently residing in Cuyahoga Falls where she was born; she grew up in Silver Lake. Darlene graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1984.  Darlene attended Ohio University where she studied Creative Writing and Literature and earned a bachelor's degree. Darlene enjoyed school and had a love of learning. She went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Communications from the University of Akron.  Darlene had a long and successful career with Lexisnexis.

Darlene loved to travel and had a passion for seeing new places in the world, even backpacking in various states in her younger years.   Cooking was often at the top of Darlene’s lists of interests, especially when she could cook and share her recipes and dishes with others.  From an early age, Darlene loved to play games, especially cards and board games with family and friends. Darlene loved eating at favorite restaurants and trying new ones. She loved live music, going to festivals, and going to Cleveland Indians baseball games,  enjoying them most when she was with family and friends.  Despite her true dislike of shopping, she enjoyed finding special gifts for others and especially loved receiving things that were cozy and warm.  Darlene understood health battles and generously chose to be an organ donor with the hope that she could help others to have a better life.

Preceded in death early by her mother, June Brown, Darlene is survived by her parents, Paul and Maxine Brown of Cuyahoga Falls; siblings, Paul Brown (Ruth) of Tucson, AZ, Jeff Brown (Diann) of Tucson, AZ,  Marcus Brown (Courtney) of Tucson, AZ, John Curtis (Pam) of Wilton, CT, and Beth Curtis-Thomas of Silver Lake, as well as many nieces and nephews that were very dear to her.

Darlene’s life touched many people in many ways throughout her lifetime, she will be missed by her family and friends.  A private memorial service with family to honor Darlene is being planned.
