Obituary of David Joseph Farkas

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the sudden and unexpected passing of David J. Farkas. Dave passed away on Tuesday April 27th, 2021 at his "happy place", Leisure Lake Campground, with his partner in love, Cheryl, at his side.

Dave, age 66, was born on July 7th, 1954, in Camden, New Jersey, and is the son of Nicholas Farkas & Irene Shrader. He grew up in and around Cinnaminson, New Jersey and attended St. Casimir's School and Cinnaminson High School, where he excelled in baseball, a sport that he loved to play. Following his graduation, he moved to Chesterland, Ohio, where he became a skilled CNC Machinist and a self-proclaimed "Mr. Fixit"!

Dave has left a permanent mark etched in the hearts of so many. He was a kind, simple, easy going man, with gentle eyes, a friendly smile, and a caring personality who, without pretense, would easily engage in friendly, warm conversation with those he would meet along the way. It was often said, "he never met a stranger". Dave was just "a Good Guy"! He was by no means "perfect", but his imperfections are what made him special and unique. He had a passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, fishing, being at the lake driving his pontoon boat or just relaxing on his deck enjoying a hot cup of coffee while watching the birds feast at his many feeders. He especially enjoyed the idiosyncrasies of "his hummingbirds", that returned year after year. His greatest accomplishments are his daughters, Alicia & Brenda, whom he loved with his whole heart. For the last 13+ years, Dave shared a special loving relationship with his life partner, Cheryl, a time that should have lasted forever. Dave loved spending time with his family and friends, but especially enjoyed making memories with his grandkids, who kept him on his toes!! They enjoyed many silly adventures, including "wild secret golf cart rides" through the woods, swimming at the pool, birthday parties and cookouts, early morning talks, eating Frosted Flakes (his favorite cereal), making huge campfires, and eating late night snacks! There was always lots of laughter! According to Abel, "he was just a really good Grandpa!"

Dave was preceded in death by his father, Nicholas Farkas, his sister, Teresa Farkas, family by "osmosis", son, Brian Harp, mother-in-Law, Dottie Hoffman, and his beloved dog, Lily, with whom he is now reunited. He is survived by his loving mother, Irene Shrader, his life partner, Cheryl Harp, his daughters, Alicia Campbell and Brenda Farkas (Kevin Piatak), his brothers, Michael Farkas (Dee) and Thomas Shrader, sisters, Darlene Klemovitch and Noreen Farkas, son, Michael Harp (Taryn), and daughter, Amanda Harp (Jimmy Hankinson). Also to carry on his legacy are his grandchildren, Vera Campbell, Brayden Taylor, Ayden and Delaney Harp, Gavyn, Abel and Owen Hankinson, and Ariana and Amellia Dolan, as well as his nephew, Tony Dolan.

Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate his life and the man that he was. He will be forever missed but never forgotten. When you think of Dave, celebrate the good memories! Keep life simple and enjoy the truly important things! Remember that life is fragile and should be lived to the fullest.

Father Thomas McCann will conduct services at 3 PM on Sunday May 2nd, 2021 at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow.
