He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Janet (Anderson). Survivors include his two children, Allison and David; two grandchildren, Alex and Hannah, and his brother, Ron Mikolajczyk.
David graduated high school from Cathedral Prep in Erie, Pennsylvania, in 1959, and Edinboro University in 1964. In 1978, he graduated with a degree in Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University in Chicago.
He worked at Abbott Labs as director of technical consulting since 1978. At Stouffer Hotel and Resorts, he was corporate vice-president and formed Harper Resources. In the 90s, David purchased Country Pure Foods where he was owner and CEO. In the 21st century, he became a chief financial advisor at 21st Century Financial.
David was active in community service. He was on the board at Parmadale and Salvation Army for many years. He also worked with the Mental Health Task Force under Gov. Voinovich.
David was “Guido” our travel guide. He organized road trips across the country and European vacations. Like his cars, he was a classic. We played tennis and he enjoyed sports, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers.
David was loving and devoted to his family. His good counsel was always available, and it had a positive effect on us all. His humor and fun quizzes and prizes were a part of every family gathering. We will always long to have one more conversation with him. We miss him dearly.
