HUDSON - Debora M. Wides, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023, at the age of 67.
Born in Cleveland, she lived her entire life in Ohio, residing in Hudson for the past four decades with her husband of 42 years, Paul. Together they loved gardening and spending time outside in their yard, where they often hosted guests for coffee and where Deb could frequently be found reading her Bible.
Deb grew up in Orange Village and treasured her memories of summer vacations fishing in Canada with her parents, Robert and Marjorie Collins, and siblings, Diane, Donna, and Doug. After giving her life to her Lord Jesus Christ in college at Miami University of Ohio, where Deb studied to be a teacher, she wholly dedicated her life to her Savior. Deb loved teaching, and she served for years as the director of children’s ministry at her church, leading many children to a love for Christ. She always thought of people first, remembering birthdays and special days with treats, and listening patiently and openly with wisdom and Scripture always ready to encourage. One of her favorite Bible verses, 2 Corinthians 5:21, tells the story of her salvation and the foundation of her life: “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
In her last few years, Deb especially loved spending time with her husband and children, Elizabeth, Andrew (Christine), and Daniel; serving as a mentor and Bible study teacher to young women through her church, Christ Community Chapel (Hudson), and baking cookies, reading, and crafting with her two precious granddaughters, Rosie and Ivy.
We extend the deepest gratitude to Deb’s many steadfast friends, who offered her love and her family comfort throughout her last weeks, Deb’s doctors and nurses throughout her three-year cancer battle, and the caring staff at Summa Hospital Hospice and the Justin T. Rogers Memorial Hospice Center.
