GREEN - Donald "Don" E. Sample, 84 passed away July 28, 2017, after an extended illness.
Don was born in Akron, and grew up in Greensburg, graduating high school in 1950. He was a graduate of the Akron Police Academy as well as the University of Akron. Don had a long career in law enforcement serving with the Green Twp. Police, Green Volunteer Fire, Summit County Sheriff, Northampton Police and Cuyahoga Falls Police. His service extended to include: Summit County Board of Health, City of Green Council, serving as President, Green Alumni Association President, State of Ohio BVR Advisory Council, and many others.
Preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Mae, sister Jo Campbell, aunts Martha and Margaret Sample, uncles Charles and Ed, and step-granddaughter, Lisa Went, he is survived by wife of 63 years, Polly; son Charlie (Patty) and children Jacqueline, Elizabeth (Rich) and Ella Schwenning; son Don (Darlene) and children Dawn (Jacques) Pan-Kita, John (Jennifer) May; son Jim (Beth) and children Molly and Rebecca; son Jeff; brother Jon (Judy); sister Judy; sister Martha (Phil) Weiner; aunt Eleanor Sample; special nieces Rebecca Curtis, Amy Powers, Melissa Mowry; cousins Dale and Pauline Bittner, Ted and Linda Bare family; Brit Bare Family; Bill Bare family; Debbie and Ed Kershaw, Mary Jane Springer, and many more. Special "thank you" for all the prayers.
Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Tuesday 4 to 7 PM, where Rev. Mike Nichols will conduct service Wednesday 11 AM. Burial Greensburg Cemetery.
