Donna M. Hanna

CUYAHOGA FALLS - Donna M. Hanna, born September 22, 1929, in Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2023.

She grew up on a small farm in Brimfield, Ohio, and graduated from Kent State High School and Boehecker Business College. Donna married Richard (Dick) Hanna in March 1948, and they were married for 54 years. The couple moved to Stow and raised four children. Donna was a charter member of the Stow United Methodist Church where she and Dick sang in the choir for many years, was a member of the United Methodist Women, and was active in the Highland Elementary School PTA.

Donna and Dick traveled extensively. In her spare time, Donna did needlepoint and quilting, crossword, and word search puzzles, and loved to garden. She also knitted dozens of scarves, hats, and mittens for needy children. Her greatest loves were for God and her family. She relished family camping, golfing with Dick, playing board and card games, the Hanna Olympics, and anything that involved family. She was a faithful and devout Christian.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Opal I. and Evelyn Newcome; loving husband, Richard, in 2003; brother, Jim Newcome, and sister-in-law, Marylou. She is survived by her beloved children, Rick (Cheryl), Tim, Jeff (Nancy), and Kim Barker (Duane); six grandsons, Brian, Jason, Kurt, Kyle, Alec, and Austin; six great-grandchildren, Josh, Jarod, Jolie, Sam, Gehrig, and Jay, and one great-great-grandchild, Brinley, and many loving relatives and friends.

Calling hours will take place at the Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, on Sunday, from 12 Noon to 1 PM, immediately followed by a funeral service at 1 PM. Interment will be at Restland Cemetery in Brimfield.
