Doris I. Hastings

AKRON - Doris I. Hastings, 87, died March 19, 2025.

Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, she had been a resident of Ohio since young adulthood. She enjoyed many activities such as decoupage, macramé, sewing, camping, visiting with friends, ceramics, gardening, watching sports, stained glass, bird watching, playing bingo, eating and visiting at her favorite restaurant, Bangkok Thai in Stow, and meeting family in the Valley to have breakfast in the park.

She is survived by daughters; Brenda Wages and Sandy Moore; stepdaughters, Theresa Akin (Tim), Sarah Fraser (Scott), and Janice Case; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Kathi Lamtman, and brother-in-law, Darrell Hastings.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Hastings; stepson, David Hastings; son-in-law, Dean Case; sister-in-law, Helen Hastings; brother-in-law, John Helwig, and sister-in-law, Lois Helwig.

Cremation has taken place.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Silver Springs Cemetery, 5080 Stow Road, Stow, OH 44224, Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 2 PM, where Doris and Larry will be laid to rest.

A luncheon will immediately follow across the street from the cemetery at the Leona Farris Lodge, 5027 Stow Road, where we will share some of Doris’ favorite foods and memories.
