Doris Irvine

Doris Lee Beringer Irvine passed away peacefully on January 18, 2011. She was born on July 26, 1927 in Sharon, PA. Her parents were Jessie Bishop and Ralph Beringer. She married Charles Allen Irvine (deceased) and had two children. She worked at The University of Akron, Eastern Kentucky University and Kent State University. Following her retirement, she remained active as a volunteer for several community outreach programs with St. John's Episcopal Church, Meals on Wheels, teaching English as a second language at The International Institute, and tutoring elementary age students in reading. She enjoyed making crafts and earned awards for her needlework. Doris also enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends.
She is survived by her brother, David Beringer; her son, Robert Irvine; her daughter, Leslee Hunsicker; her six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Her family would like to thank Dr. Atul Goswami, her doctor who became her friend and the staff and her friends at Mulberry Gardens.
A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, January 23rd at 4PM at St. John's Episcopal Church in Cuyahoga Falls. In lieu of flowers, donations on behalf of Doris can be made to The International Institute of Akron, 207 E. Tallmadge Avenue, Akron 44310.
