Dorothy (Dotti) May Atkinson

STOW - Dorothy "Dotti" May Atkinson, 92, passed away, peacefully on August 18, 2023, at the Sunrise Senior Living Center in Cuyahoga Falls.

Born in Akron on March 9, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Frank Gerstheimer and Leona Searles.

Preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Atkinson, and sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Larson, she is survived by her sons, David Tucker, his wife, Susan, Gerald Tucker, his wife, Catherine, James Tucker, his wife, Jeriann, and Shawn Centa; her daughter, Holli Scanlon; her grandchildren, Brian Tucker, his wife, Karen, the late Kristen Tucker, Kaitlin Tucker, Abiann Tucker, Julianna Tucker, Summer Scanlon, Casey Tucker, Jaya Centa, and Nikhil Centa; her great-grandchildren, Hayley McKillop, Jordan Tucker Hartman, her husband Trenton, as well as several nephews and nieces.

Dotti's first love was her family and she took great pleasure in hosting family reunions for her children and grandchildren from many parts of the nation, creating a bond between all. An avid gardener, Dotti spent many years in Coyote Springs, Arizona, farming and living off the land. She was a creative, talented cook and baker. A proud golfer, she won many awards and competed in several tournaments. Dotti was a true artist. She was an oil painter, water color painter, and pencil and pastel artist. An innovative sewist, she was a seamstress and quilter, and could create beautiful flower gardens in the most challenging of territories.

A devoted disciple of the Lord, Dotti was an active member of her church throughout her life. She was always the first to help anyone in need. She will be missed by many friends, fellow parishioners, and all who were graced to know her.

A Celebration of Life will be held October 14, 2023. More information regarding the time and place will be provided to all interested in attending.
