Mahalo!
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Douglass “DBear” Tyla who went home to our Lord on October 17, 2022.
Doug is survived by his loving wife, Janine Tyla (Mancuso), along with his parents, Ed and Mary Tyla; his brothers, Brian Tyla (Amy, Zoey, Zach, and Isaiah), Matthew Tyla (Lori, Ethan, Avery, and Elliot); in-laws, Annette and Vinny Mancuso; sister-in-law, Debbie Tomasetti (Jaclyn and Jared); brother-in-law, Vinny Mancuso, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Chris and Sue Mancuso (Brianna, Cameron, and Caitlyn).
Doug was a proud graduate of Walsh Jesuit High School and attended Mount Union College. A passionate sports fan, Bear was a die-hard Ohio State Buckeye and Cleveland Browns fan. He channeled that passion and love for sports into a successful career as a professional Golf Caddy. Working on the PGA Tour and various clubs around the country allowed Doug’s effervescent personality and infectious smile to impact the many friends he gained through his extensive travel.
While he was a great friend to many, it was his selfless devotion and uncompromising loyalty to his family that made Doug a truly special person. He was the best big brother anyone could ask for and was always there for his younger brothers. The life of a looper can be quite nomadic and Doug made it a point to ALWAYS keep in contact with his family. Whether it was a text to his brothers wishing them good luck in a Friday Night Game, calling mom and dad just to check in, talking with his nephew, Ethan, about his upcoming football game, telling his niece, Avery, to “break a leg” in an upcoming performance, wishing Elliot good luck in a volleyball game, or sending our precious ZoZo an awesome birthday gift, Doug understood and valued the importance of Family!
Our Tyla Clan was able to get a little bigger in June of 2019 when Doug married the absolute love of his life, Janine. Simply put, they made each other happy! Their love was contagious, and you just knew that these two were meant to be together. Janine is such a special person and the fact that she could finally make our big brother happy was all that we, as his family, could ask for. Janine and their dog, Sadie, were his everything and became the most important part of his life. While the time we got to spend with him was cut short, we will forever hold him and our memories of him in our hearts . . . forever.
“DBear” will live on within all of us! We love you and miss you terribly! Cheers!
