Doyle Pope

Doyle Chester Pope, DDS, passed away October 3, 2012. Born April 20, 1921 in Akron OH, he was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mary (Frease) Pope, and brother Orris R. Pope. He is survived by JoAnn (Barlow) Pope, his wife of 67 years; two sons, Durand L (Nancy) Pope of Hudson, and Bryan R (Marilyn) Pope of Atlanta; and his step-sister Mary Katherine Clevenger.

Doyle was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy from 1942 to 1945. He then attended Hiram College and graduated from Western Reserve Dental School in 1951. Doyle practiced dentistry in Akron for 40 years, retiring in 1992. He was a long-time member of First Methodist Church in Cuyahoga Falls, and after moving to Hudson in 1956, became a member of the First Congregational Church of Hudson. He was a 32nd Degree Mason (Scottish Rite Valley of Akron), and a member of Tadmor Shrine. Doyle and JoAnne retired to the Laurel Lake Retirement Center in Hudson in 1999.

A memorial service will be held at the Serenity Chapel at Laurel Lake, Hudson, Tuesday, October 9 at 10:30 a.m. Donations may be made in Doyle's memory to the Laurel Lake Foundation, 200 Laurel Lake Dr., Hudson, OH 44236.
