Edgar N. Combs

STOW - Edgar N. Combs, 81, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on December 23, 2023.

Ed was born on May 8, 1942, in Wadsworth, Ohio to the late Edgar and Marilyn Combs. Ed grew up in Copley and was a proud member of the Copley High School class of 1960. Ed attended Kent State University and after college he became a Nationwide Insurance agent in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. During his career, he attained various professional designations including Chartered Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant and Registered Health Underwriter.

He served his community as Chairman of the Munroe Falls Charter Commission, member of the Board of Zoning Appeals and was one of the founding members and President of the Munroe Falls Jaycees.

After retirement, Ed enjoyed golfing (where he had two holes-in-one), and spending time with his many friends in Florida. His favorite thing was spending time with his family, and he especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren. Ed was the rock of our family, took care of all of us, could fix anything and was famous for his homemade ice cream. He will forever be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Bonnie; brother, William, and granddaughter, Brynne. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Patricia; his devoted daughter, Krista (Len) Stauffenger, and his grandchildren, Blake (Christina), Grant, and Lexi; sister, Michelle (Casey) Persing; niece, Kierra (Ben), and nephews, Robert (Denise), Bradford (Christina), and Andrew.

A celebration of Ed’s life will be held at 11 AM, on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow 44224, where friends may call Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from 4 to 7 PM.
