Our loving, kind, and light-hearted mom has been reunited with the love of her life.
Elizabeth Jane Dowey, 94, passed away peacefully on Mother’s Day, May 8, 2022. She was a devoted servant of God, member of First Christian Church of Stow, and faithful to her words, “God is Love."
Preceded in death by her loving “hubby", Bill Dowey, of more than 60 years; parents, Desmond and Ruth Lamont; brothers, Pat and Randy Lamont; sisters, Donna Cattoi and Judy Dibert, and life-long best friend, Mary Bock. Betty was the much loved mother to six children, Jim (Carol) Dowey, Denise (Bill) Malson, Ted (Janet) Dowey, Rich (Robin) Dowey, Nadine (Mark) Chapman, and Bill (Cora) Dowey, and loving grandmother to sixteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by brother, Jack Lamont, in-laws, Ruthie and Alice Lamont, special neighbors, and dear friends, Vic and Evelyn Ing and Allen and Rose Barbour, along with many other loving family and friends.
Betty was born on February 5, 1928, in Patton, PA, and was raised in Bakerton, PA. She resided in Cuyahoga Falls for the past 59 years. She was very strong in her faith and served as a Sunday school teacher and loved being in the choir. She was a member of Church Women United and First Christian Women’s Fellowship, Dorcas/Rebekah Guild. She enjoyed delivering Mobile Meals and decorating mini trees in memory of her grandsons for the Akron Children’s Hospital Tree Festival. Betty supported her kids with Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and various sports and youth group activities. She worked at First National Bank once her children were grown.
Betty leaves a legacy of faith and memories that will be cherished by her family and all who knew her. As a butterfly flutters by, remember her.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be held at First Christian Church of Stow, 3493 Darrow Road, Stow, Ohio 44224 on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at 1 PM with memorial service beginning at 2 PM. A private burial will take place at a later date.
