Rowland, currently of West Akron, but formerly a lifelong resident of Stow, went peacefully into the arms of his Savior early on Monday, July 15, 2024. Born on February 11, 1928, in Newport, Ohio, he celebrated his 96th birthday this year with family and friends. Throughout his life, those who met him enjoyed his outgoing, friendly manner and quick wit. Harold was an elder and one of the founding members of the Stow Alliance Fellowship Church. Harold was predeceased by his parents, Urie and Lura (Eddy) Rowland; his spouses, Margaret (Martin) and Theda (Vallen); his brothers, Robert and Verne, and infant son, Rodney. He is survived by his children, Bruce (Ann) Rowland, Audrey (Gregg) Walsh, Terri Tisch (Mark Moynihan), Jeff (Lynn) Rowland, and Connie Rowland; six grandchildren, and seventeen great grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. After graduating from Stow High School, Harold served in the U.S. Army from 1950-1952. He was very fortunate to be stationed in Germany, where he traveled extensively and attended the 1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo, Norway. In 1953, he met Margaret Martin of Stow, in May, and married her six weeks later. She passed away after their 40th wedding anniversary. Harold married Theda Vallen, a longtime family friend, late in the same year. They had been married for 27 years. The longest part of his career was in the sign business in design and sales. He was an avid fan of Stow High School sports, the Guardians and especially the Rubber Ducks. Harold spent time with fellow veterans, at early morning McDonald's breakfasts, and at the Korean War Veterans Association. Calling hours will be on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow 44224. His life will be celebrated on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 11 AM, at Stow Alliance Fellowship Church, 4460 Stow Road, Stow 44224, Pastor Don Miller officiating. Burial will follow immediately at Stow Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stow Alliance Fellowship Church or Akron Pregnancy Services, 715 East Buchtel Avenue, Akron 44305.
