STOW - Jane (Haley) Osman passed peacefully at her home of 68 years on the day after her 92nd birthday. She was born in Kent and moved to Stow when she married her husband, Howard Osman in 1952.
Jane graduated from Kent Roosevelt High School then attended the nursing program at People’s Hospital, (now Akron General). She graduated from the nursing program in 1951, as a registered nurse. Following some time off to raise her children, she joined family to work at Osman’s Pies. Jane also worked at the childcare center at the United Methodist Church in Stow and is still affectionately remembered by many of her students.
Jane and Howard raised three children: Gary, Debbie, and Michael. She famously attended every extracurricular activity of her children and grandchildren, affectionately dubbed, “Grandma Jane,” by all. She recently added the name of “Gigi” when her first great grandchild was born.
Jane was a member of The Community Church of Stow and through the years, she could be seen working at the Spaghetti dinners or alongside her son, Michael, preparing food to be sold at the Farmer’s Market.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, and son, Michael. She is survived by her son, Gary (Kelly) Osman; daughter, Debbie (Michael) Diroll; grandchildren, Christopher (Alexandra) Diroll, Erin (Daniel) Ebert, MacGarret Osman, Jesse Osman, and Amber Osman, as well as great grandson, Elton. She leaves behind many friends; we are all a little richer for having her in our lives.
Pastor Bonnie Montgomery will conduct a memorial service at 11 AM on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at The Community Church of Stow, 1567 Pilgrim Drive, Stow, OH 44224, where friends may call from 10 AM until service time.
