Herbert Joseph Krompass

STOW - Herbert Joseph Krompass of Stow, Ohio, passed peacefully on January 16, 2023, at the Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center at the young age of 97 1/2 years.

Born in Akron, Ohio, on July 18, 1925, to Josef and Berta (Schwarz) Krompass, at the age of three, he returned to Germany with his parents. He met and married Maria Johanna Resch and they married on April 19, 1948, in Vornbach, Germany. They returned to the U.S. on June 10, 1953, arriving in New York on the S.S. America.

He is preceded in death by wife of 50 years, Maria Johanna Krompass (Resch) and sister, Hilde Duschl.

He is survived by his children; Wolfgang (Mary) Krompass, Fred (Pam) Krompass, Helga (Dennis) Gallo, and Ed (Mary) Krompass; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary and Sons of Herman for 50 plus years. He retired from Acme in 1991.

He was a great provider and loved his family. He enjoyed many activities which included golfing, traveling, (his most recent trip to Germany in 2013 for his sister's 90th birthday), fishing, gardening, and cooking, (goulash was his specialty), and never missed his daily shots of Jaeger!

A special note of thanks to his caregiver, Beth Batt, and the nurses (angels) at the Hospice Care Center for their remarkable care.

Mass of the Christian Burial, Friday, January 20, 2023, at 12 Noon, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1905 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, 44223, Fr. James Singler celebrant. Friends may call at Immaculate Heart of Mary from 11 AM until time of the Mass. Burial Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice Care Center , 3358 Ridgewood Road, Fairlawn 44333 or to VFW ( vfw.org ).
