MUNROE FALLS - Ian F. Blain, age 78, passed away unexpectedly on June 7, 2023. Ian was born June 14, 1944, to George and Elsie Blain in London, England. Ian moved to the states in 1953, with his mother, father, and two siblings and settled in Cleveland, Ohio. After graduating high school, he joined the Navy and spent four years traveling the world. After the Navy, Ian pursued his true passion in education earning his master’s degree. He spent the next 30 years as a teacher, principal, and administrator working with children and adults with disabilities. He inspired his own children to follow his passion as teachers and principal. Ian was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, avid golfer, garlic and hot pepper enthusiast, and enjoyed his time in the sun around the pool. He was often found in the garage tinkering with his 1978 CJ7 Jeep, (aka Wild Jeep), as he enjoyed working with his hands and building things from the ground up. He was a long-time member of the Boy Scouts and continued helping his son earn the rank of Eagle Scout. He spent time with his family at his property in Delaware where he enjoyed camping and time at the beach. Ian is survived by Teri Alexander, his wife; children, Kim Canterbury (Marc), Todd Blain (Michelle), Leah and Becky Alexander; grandchildren, Shaniya, Jacob, Makenna, Emma, and Abby, as well as his brother, Keith Blain (Iris), and sister, Janet Brucker. Private Interment with military honors will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023, at Sunny Hill Golf Course, 3734 Sunnybrook Road, Kent, from 5 - 9 PM. A special toast will be held at 7 PM.
