Janet "Jan" Evans

Janet "Jan" Evans, 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at Hudson Grande Senior Living after a five year battle with dementia. Jan was born in Pittsburgh, PA on January 28, 1939, moving to Ohio in 1962. She was employed as a medical secretary for a heart surgeon group in Pittsburgh.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Frieda Utzig. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Raymond; a son, Eric of Boston, MA; a daughter, Wendy of Sterling, VA; eight grandchildren, four by Eric, David, Daniel, Matthew, and Michael and four by Wendy, Ashley, Austin, Alex, and Aidan.

Jan was a voracious reader of books and a perpetual volunteer starting in the Highland Elementary School library in Stow. Later she volunteered at the Fallsview Mental Hospital and thousands of hours at St. Thomas Hospital. She was a member of TWIGS that made and delivered items to kids at Akron Children's Hospital. Several years were spent at PROJECT LEARN teaching people how to read.

Jan served as a gracious hostess when she traveled with her husband on dealer incentive trips to countries all over the world. She loved to travel to new places and vacation anywhere there was a beach and water.

Jan had a heart of gold and will be deeply missed and never forgotten by all who knew and loved her.

Calling hours will be held at Redmon Funeral Home 3633 Darrow Roa, Stow, Ohio on Friday December 10, 2021 from 6 PM to 8 PM. A celebration of life will be held at 11 AM at First United Methodist Church, 245 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio on Saturday, December 11, 2021.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Alzheimer's Association ~ alz.org ~ or to a charity of your choice.
