The Chapel - Memorial Service of Mrs. Janis Ryan Mosteller

STOW - Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Janis Ryan Mosteller (née Ryan), passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on January 17, 2024, at the age of 94.

Predeceased by her grandson, Elliot Hynd, Janis is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Dr. Robert Mosteller; her children, Robert (Brenda) Mosteller, Gary (Sheila) Mosteller, Jean (Bill) Hynd, Ann Starkey, and Kathleen (Matt) Nussbaum; her thirteen grandchildren, and her seven great-grandchildren. She was very proud of her family and often marveled at God’s grace and faithfulness to her through the generations.

Janis was valedictorian of her 1947 class at West High School in Akron. She went on to graduate from Hammel Business College and enjoyed her work for nearly twelve years as an executive assistant to the Chief Hospital Administrators of People’s Hospital (Akron General) and Billings Hospital (The University of Chicago).

Janis and Bob married in 1957 and raised their children while managing his busy medical practice. She was a longtime member of The Chapel in Akron where she practiced her gifts of hospitality and generosity by welcoming missionaries and international students into their home. Janis was quick to laugh and loved a good story. She will be remembered and missed for her loving spirit and sweet disposition.

Please join us for a memorial service to celebrate Janis’ life on Friday, February 23, 2024, at The Memorial Chapel, 135 Fir Hill, Akron, OH 44304. Visitation will be held 1 - 3 PM, followed immediately by a memorial service. A private family burial has already taken place.
