Joan J. Gulajski

SILVER LAKE - Joan J. Gulajski, 90, died June 22, 2023.

Born in St. Clairsville, OH, she was a Silver Lake resident since 1967, and a graduate of Kent State University, where she received both her Bachelor and Master of Education degrees.  Joan taught for over 38 years in various Ohio school districts.  In 1995, after 16 years, she retired from the Cuyahoga Falls City School District, where she had served as principal at Grant, Silver Lake, and Newberry Elementary Schools.  As the first female principal, she became the Title IX Officer for the Cuyahoga Falls City School District.

Joan was also a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority and the Silver Lake Garden Club.

Preceded in death by her son, David, in 2015; parents, Leo and Rose Gonot, and 12 siblings, she is survived by her husband of 66 years, David; daughter, Lisa Gulajski; granddaughter, Megan (Jacob) Hicks, and her sister, Sandra Contis.

Pastor Mark Lile will conduct service Friday, June 30, 2023, at 2:00 PM, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow 44224, where friends may call from 12 Noon until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lifebanc , 4775 Richmond Road, Cleveland, Ohio 44128-5919.
