Obituary of Joe R. Coggin, Sr.




STOW - Joe R. Coggin, Sr. passed away on December 12, 2020 with his wife, Beverly by his side.

Joe worked for F.C. Machine and retired after 32 years, when he began working at NC Racing, where he designed and built quarter midget race cars and engines for 13 years. Joe then went on to work at ATV-Four Play, where he had been employed with his friend Tom, from 2008 until presently.

Joe's love of racing started in the 1960s when he raced Corvairs at Dragway 42. He went on to quarter midgets and sprint cars with his children, and then his grandchildren.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Buster and Kitty Coggin; twin brother, Jack; and sister, Judy. Joe is survived by his wife of 58 years, Beverly; children; Kittsie (Rick) Testa of Stow, Jodie (Baron) Gifford of Stow, Tammie Coggin of Akron, Joe (Tracie) Coggin of Munroe Falls, and Aaron (Greg) Bradner of Kent. Joe will be greatly missed by his 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank all the nurses, doctors, and aides at Western Reserve Hospital for all their hard work and dedication. Also, they would like to thank Andrea from Hospice of Western Reserve for her compassion.

A funeral will take place on Wednesday at 1 PM at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow 44224. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial Northlawn Cemetery.
