HUDSON - John J. Drabczyk, 60, died September 24, 2024.
Born March 28, 1964, in Detroit, Michigan. John was a 1982 graduate of Hudson High School, earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering at The Ohio State University and spent his career as a mechanical engineer.
John was an avid fan of the Buckeyes AND the Wolverines, having also attended the University of Michigan. He enjoyed watching the Cleveland Browns, and especially the Detroit Red Wings. John began playing hockey in Trenton, Michigan at the age of seven, being coached by Dad and taking Mom and his sisters on many “family vacation” hockey trips, skating across Michigan and Ontario, Canada during the 1970s. He developed into an excellent player ultimately starting at center for the Cleveland Junior Barons and the Cleveland Americans. John later joined an adult recreational league and played alongside his brother-in-law, Lee, for the Cleveland Fireblades.
John had a keen interest in many topics and never stopped learning. He closely followed the news staying current on many local, national and world events. John could converse intelligently on diverse subjects such as history, science, music, politics, current events, government, and of course, sports.
Preceded in death by father, John D. Drabczyk, he is survived by his wife, Vy Le Drabczyk; mother, Annie Drabczyk; son, Alex (Natalie) Drabczyk; granddaughter, Dahlia; sisters, Maria (E.J.) Wise, Natalie (Lee) Simunek, and Jean (Bob) Gojkov; nieces, Libby, Abby, Catherine, Maddy, Alyssa, and Cora; nephews Spencer, Owen, and Jerry, and cousins, Anne and Peggy.
