CUYAHOGA FALLS - John R. (Jack) Fristoe, passed away peacefully, on February 25, 2025, leaving behind a life defined by love, leadership, and an insatiable zest for life. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Jack’s warmth, generosity, and infectious spirit made a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Glenda, whose love and partnership were the foundation of his life. He was a devoted father to his daughters, Lisa (Mark) Freemal and Jill (Doug) Detwiler, and a proud grandfather to Chloe, Claire, Mary, and Jack. He also leaves behind his nephews, Todd and David Lynch, along with countless cherished friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, John, whom he now joins in eternal peace.
Jack met Glenda at Kent State University, where he was an active and respected member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity, serving as president. His natural leadership, charisma, and ability to bring people together were evident even in his college years - qualities that would come to define both his career and personal life.
Jack’s professional journey flourished in Chicago as an ad man at Leo Burnett, making his mark with creativity and insight. He later returned to Ohio to be closer to family, joining Wyse Advertising before forging his own path as an entrepreneur. With his trademark originality, wit, and passion for people, he founded Fristoe & Carleton Executive Search, a firm dedicated to serving the advertising industry. More than just a recruiter, Jack was a mentor and trusted advisor to many, known for his keen ability to connect the right people with the right opportunities. His business legacy continues through his daughter, Jill, and F&C Executive Search.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jack was a master at bringing people together. In Silver Lake, he founded SLAM, a group that celebrated life with picnics, parties, car rallies, and Monday Night Football - always with Jack leading the charge, ensuring fun, laughter, and camaraderie. His quick wit, boundless enthusiasm, and ability to forge lasting friendships were among his greatest gifts.
Jack’s passions extended beyond business and social gatherings. He was a WWII history buff, a competitive tennis player, an avid reader, and an infamous jokester - always ready with a clever remark or humorous observation to lighten the moment.
A private ceremony will be held to honor Jack’s life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a favorite memory be shared in his honor or a donation be made to
Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.
