Joseph Stephen Kaferle

SILVER LAKE - Joseph Stephen Kaferle, 89, passed away November 13, 2024.

Born in Coketon, WV, he was a resident of Silver Lake since 2019. Joseph graduated from Madison High School in 1952, and went on to study horticulture at The Ohio State University, where he was a member of Delta Theta Sigma before being drafted into the U.S. Army. He had been employed with True Temper Sport as a manager of their golf factory for 37 years before retiring in 1994. Joseph also worked as a plasterer and contractor throughout his life. He was a member of Christ Community Chapel. Joseph enjoyed flying airplanes, restoring cars, golfing, and was a perfectionist when it came to yard work. He was a skilled bowler, having won several state and national championships in the Senior Olympics; and a talented musician, playing the “Button Box” in several polka bands throughout the years.

Preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Josephine Kaferle, and stepmother, Angela Kaferle, he is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Barbara Kaferle; brother, Frank (Nancy) Kaferle; sister, Regina (Willie) Cone; stepbrothers, Frank (Jeanne) Petrich, Paul (Gay) Petrich; daughters, Lorrie (Roger) Taylor, Kelly (Tim) Franklin, Jacqui (Bobby) Payne; sons, Brad (Traci) Cowger, Gary Kaferle; grandchildren, Nathan (Brittany) Cowger, Christan (Ron) Leidner, Isaac (Karen) Cowger, Jordyn (Mark) Kemats, Seth (Bryna) Taylor, Shelby Taylor, Joshua (Carissa) Franklin, Caleb (Janeice) Franklin, Tiffany Wolfe; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at a later date.
