STOW - Joseph L. Martin passed away peacefully on December 28, 2022, in Hudson, Ohio.
Joe was born on March 4, 1929, in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Michael and Julia (Diskin) Martin. On December 28, 1957, he married the love of his life, Marilyn Yaroschak, who survives. The day Joe passed was their 65th wedding anniversary - many beautiful years together. Joe was extremely proud of their marriage and their three children who also survive: Sue (Paul) Samide, Mike (Carol) Martin, and Chuck (Rachel) Martin.
Joe, aka Pop-Pop, was also a loving and devoted grandfather who was determined that all their grandchildren become friends, not simply cousins. To this end, we had our annual week together on the shores of Lake Erie in Marblehead, OH where great memories and bonds were indeed forged. These grandchildren are as follows in their order of arrival: Fr. Rich Samide, Fr. Dan Samide, Jenn Martin, Kaitlin Martin (fiancé Michael Hoarty), Mike (Jessie) Samide, Anna Martin, and Joe Martin. Adding to his blessings is one precious great granddaughter, Katie Samide.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Julia; his five brothers, Jack, Bill, Ed, Tom, and George Martin, and one sister, Anna, who died as a child.
A true Irishman with a fantastic laugh and sense of humor, Joe loved spending time with family and friends. He was very proud of his lifelong career at General Electric and upon retirement was able to enjoy traveling the world with Marilyn.
A lifelong and devoted Catholic, Joe was privileged to attend daily Mass, and was so incredibly proud when his grandsons Rich and Dan received the call to become priests. We will miss him dearly, but abide in the knowledge that he has gone on to dwell in the presence of our Lord.
