Joseph S. Zapytowski, Sr.

HUDSON - Joseph S. Zapytowski, Sr., 97, died June 4, 2022. Born in Detroit, MI, he was a resident of Hudson since 2013, and a WWII U.S. Army veteran. Joseph, a lifelong school superintendent, was most recently employed by Grand Haven Area Public Schools in Michigan. He retired from them in 1990. He was an avid boater and sailor nearly his entire life, navigating most of the Great Lakes, Long Island Sound, the Mississippi River, the Gulf of Mexico, and much of the Atlantic seaboard. Preceded in death by wife, Jean Zapytowski; daughter, Carrie Jo Zapytowski; brother, John Zapytowski, and half-sister, Helene Greniewicki. He is survived by his sons, Stephen M. (Bernadine), Mark, and Joseph (Julie Harris) Zapytowski, Jr.; grandchildren, S. Michael (Breann), Catherine, Isabel, and Clover Zapytowski; great-grandchildren, Sofia, Stella, and Robbie Zapytowski; and sister, Niusia Nowakowski.
