CUYAHOGA FALLS - Joy M. Sabistina passed away on September 25, 2022, at the age of 53, after a ten-year battle with Leiomyosarcoma. Being the rarest of cancers and having no known cure, she always knew this day would come, but rarely did she let that slow her down. In between chemo treatments, Joy was able to do what she loved most, tending to her flowers, caring for her four grandchildren, and traveling to a calming beach or finding a place to play the slot machines.
Born in Philadelphia on February 15, 1969, her family relocated to Cuyahoga Falls when she was young. After graduating as a Black Tiger with the class of 1987, Joy found employment as a bookkeeper where she took pride in finding those who like to cheat the system. Eventually the pesky invention called the computer made her job obsolete, but she persevered by establishing her own cleaning company, Joy Clean. Once diagnosed with cancer, Joy retired from work and concentrated on family, making every birthday and holiday a time for celebration.
Preceded in death by her mother, Judy Lord; daughter, Lacey Kline, she is survived by her husband of 24 years, John Sabistina; fathers, William “Buck” Thompson and Jim Lord; sisters, Christie (Steve) Scharboneau, Bobbi (Jeff) Liner, and Jami (Jeff) Smith; children, Michael (Ashley) Kline, and Hayley Kline; grandchildren, Aliyah, Jaquelynn, Avery, and Callahan, along with many aunts, uncles, close friends, and family.
Friends may call 3 PM - 6 PM, Friday, September 30, 2022, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, OH 44224. Immediately following calling hours, a celebration of life will be held at Panini’s Bar & Grill, 4200 Steels Pointe, Stow, OH 44224.
The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at the Justin T. Rodgers Hospice Care Center, Visiting Nurses, for taking such delicate care of Joy in her final days, and everyone at University Hospital Seidman Cancer Center and UH Minoff Health Center for the ten years of caring. Every one of you deserve a special place in heaven for the effort, patience, and expertise you showed us these past years.
In lieu of flowers or gifts to the family, please consider taking the time to learn about Leiomyosarcoma and/or donate to any of the aforementioned facilities.
