Julia K. (Rolph) Hawley

AURORA - Julia K. (Rolph) Hawley, 91, passed away peacefully the afternoon of May 9, 2022.

She was born July 24, 1930, in Wooster, Ohio, and grew up in Rittman. She attended Bowling Green University where she was active in her sorority, Kappa Delta, and continued her relationships with her sorority sisters for many years after college. It was at Bowling Green where she met the love of her life and husband of 67 years, David Hawley. After their wedding on August 11, 1951, they moved to Virginia where she worked in the Pentagon and was Secretary to Naval Officers while David was stationed at Camp LeJeune. When David completed his time in the service, they returned to Ohio where she was a charter member of Northminster Presbyterian Church in Cuyahoga Falls. Julia graduated from the University of Akron and began teaching second grade at Price Elementary School with the Cuyahoga Falls City School District for 20 years, retiring in 1988.

Julia enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, bowling, traveling with her husband, and wintering in Ft. Myers Beach, FL with her siblings and their spouses. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.

Julia is preceded in death by her husband, David; parents, Stephen and Gladys Rolph; sister, Joan Houglan; brother, Edward Rolph. She is survived by her sons, Stephen and Daniel; daughter, Jill Brown (Ken), and her beloved grandson, Joshua Katzinski. She is also survived by sister, Jane (Bob) Tager; sister-in-law, Sharon Rolph; 15 nieces and nephews and their families.

Service will be held May 20, 2022, 2:30 PM at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville, OH 44273. Those attending the service should arrive at the main entrance of the cemetery 15 minutes prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Julia’s name to a charity of the donor’s choice.
