June Rice

CRANBERRY TWP., PA - (Elner) June Rice, 88, formerly of Stow, died July 5, 2021.

June was born on October 25, 1932 in Akron and graduated from South High School. She lived a combined 57 years in Munroe Falls and Stow before recently relocating to the Pittsburgh area. She retired as an executive secretary in Internal Auditing at Alltel in Hudson after 15 years of service and subsequently enjoyed temporary work and the friends she made at Roadway Corp.

June was devoted to her family and was happiest at reunions of the Carter clan and when spending time with her granddaughters. She considered her children a gift, loved each of her seven brothers and sisters deeply, and thoroughly enjoyed her many nieces and nephews. She lived a life surrounded by music and music-making and took particular pleasure in attending performances by her family members.

June is survived by her daughter Susan Rice (David Anderson) of Pittsburgh, PA; son Mark Rice and grandchildren Sophia, Abigail and Katherine Rice of Tampa, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Elner (Evans) Carter; former husband Alan Rice; sisters Miriam Tropeano, Helen Sautner, and Dorothy Dawes; brothers James, Jack, Daniel and Bruce Carter; and in-laws Eugene Tropeano, John Sautner, Sid Dawes, Alice Carter, Marilyn Carter, and Doris Carter.

Friends may call Saturday 10 AM to 12 noon at Redmon Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 1 PM at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Akron.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial donation in June's name to the Heinz Chapel Choir at the University of Pittsburgh, 4337 Fifth Avenue, 128 Music Building, Pittsburgh, PA 15260.
