Karen Marie Myers

May 19, 1945 — February 4, 2024

STOW - Karen Marie Myers passed away peacefully on February 4, 2024.

Karen is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Thomas; her children, Jason, David (Sara), Eric (Lisa), and Bryan (Kristin); her siblings, Marvin (Kathie), and Larry; her five wonderful grandchildren; nieces; nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews, and many more extended family members.

Karen was born on May 19, 1945, in Shreve, Ohio, where she attended and graduated from Triway Local Schools. After graduation, she went on to further her education by attending Kent State University and graduated with her Master's Degree in Education. Karen dedicated 35 years to educating children and adults from elementary school through college. During those 35 years, she was a reading specialist and spent her time focused on teaching and growing her students' love for reading. Throughout those years, she taught in Stow Munroe Falls School City District, Chagrin Falls Exempted Village Schools, and John Carroll University.

Karen met the love of her life, Thomas, casually at Camp Christian, years before ever getting married. Later while they were both working on their master’s degrees at Kent State University, they met up again. Soon after, they began dating and they knew they wanted to devote their lives to each other and build a family. They joined their lives together in June of 1973, and went on to grow a beautiful family.

When Karen was not teaching, she was a very devoted and loving mother to four active boys. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them, participating in school activities, numerous sporting events, teaching in her church's preschool program, and volunteering in many organizations. Karen was a dedicated member of First Christian Church of Stow, where she and Thomas have been members for over 50 years. Karen’s love for God began as a young child and continued to grow stronger throughout her entire life. She spent her time on earth speaking the Word of God in her home and instilling those practices into her children. As her children grew older and moved away, she continued to teach. But she and her husband also enjoyed visiting her children all over the country. When she retired from her formal teaching career, she became one of the best kinds of teachers - a grandmother. Reading to her grandchildren about Jesus was one of the highlights of her life.

Karen had the kindest soul and would do anything she could to spread love and positivity to all around her. She took delight in being a follower of Christ, a devoted and loving wife, and an exceptional mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend.

"You are a good and faithful servant. I left you in charge of only a little, but now I will put you in charge of much more. Come and share in my happiness!" Matthew 25:21
