Sue Riley

February 1, 1948 — November 30, 2022

STOW - Kay M. (Sue) Riley, 74, passed away November 30, 2022, after a five year long battle with breast cancer.

Born in Hudson, Sue was a resident of Stow most of her life. She attended The Andrews Institute for Girls, where she developed her skills in sewing, was voted best dancer, and met her lifelong friend, Ann. After graduating with a Seamstress trade, Sue became employed at Riley Cleaners, working as a seamstress there for nearly 30 years. She enjoyed the next 20 years working alongside her partner, Jerry, with their machine shop JKay Corporation. She had an amazing talent for creating beauty through her many decorating, crafting, gardening, and sewing projects, that brought her so much joy. She was an incredible dancer who enjoyed showing her grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Mama Sue,” all the dance moves of the 50s and 60s.

Besides her hobbies that kept her busy, she ultimately enjoyed time spent with family and friends. It is a comfort for her loved ones to know she is no longer in pain, now in Heaven, playing hide and seek with her beloved dog, Brandy. Sue was always there to listen, support, and encourage those who knew her.

Preceded in death by her husband, Brian Riley; partner, Jerry DeAngelo; brother, Fay “Butch” Bissell, and sister, Yvonne Bissell, she is survived by her daughters, Christine “Chris” (Dante) Riley-Bertin and Kimberly (Benjamin) Fetter; grandchildren, Dante, Liam, Tyler, Halle, and Cody.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at The Cooper Cancer Center, Comfort Keepers, SouthernCare Hospice and Mulberry Gardens Senior Living.

At Sue’s request, cremation will take place.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation , 28 West 44th Street, Suite #609, New York, NY  10036.
