STOW - Kay Louise (Kinsey) Sinclair, 85, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2023.
A daughter of the late Taylor and Colette (Steiner) Kinsey, she was born October 21, 1937, in Akron and grew up in Cuyahoga Falls. Kay was a 1955 graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School and received her nursing diploma from Idabelle Firestone School of Nursing in 1958. That same year, she married Marvin C. Sinclair, spending 39 years together before his passing in 1997. Kay and Marv moved to Stow in 1964, where they raised their five daughters. Kay was a Stow resident for more than 50 years.
Kay was an Akron City Hospital (Summa) ER night nurse for 34 years, serving as the head nurse the last 15 years. After her retirement, Kay volunteered at Townhall II, a free clinic in Kent; the UMCOR early response team; and the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library. She was a longtime member of Sto-Notes and sang on the praise teams at Evangelical Covenant Church of Hudson and the Stow United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Kay was a league bowler at Stow-Kent Lanes and loved celebrating holidays and spending time with family, playing sweepstakes, and contests, (especially when she won), enjoying chocolates and appreciating nature from her porch swing. Her family will remember her dry sense of humor, her rich alto voice, her love of Peppermint Patties - and will always wonder when she actually slept! Most of all, she cherished her family and her dear longtime friends.
Preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Sinclair, and brother, Gary Kinsey, she is survived by her daughters, Shannon (Jeff) Casey, Shelly (James) Williams, Susan Vlahos (Ivan Ivanov), Sheila Sinclair, and Shalleen (Chris) Mayes; grandchildren, Katie (Anthony) Scalmato, Emma Higginbotham, Jim (Brittany) Williams, Erin (Noel) Aker, Eric (Lilly) Vlahos, and Nicholas, Joseph, and Lucas Mayes; great-grandchildren, Sage Scalmato, Isla and Lennon Aker, and Alessia Williams; and cousins, Diane Skipper, Pam Monahan, Bob Steiner, Greg Steiner, and Carol Bell.
Kay's family will receive friends on Thursday, June 1, 2023, from 4 - 7 PM, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, Ohio 44224. Pastor Jeff Sweitzer will conduct the funeral service at 10:30 AM, Friday, June 2, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff of St. Joseph Senior Living in Louisville and Serenity Hospice in Stow for their love and compassionate care.
