Larry R. Tawney, Sr.

ROOTSTOWN - Larry R. Tawney, Sr., 73, passed away August 11, 2022.

Born in Edinburg, he was a resident of Portage County after his military service. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War. Larry was a jack of all trades, hard worker, and neighborly. He really enjoyed hunting, fishing, and practical jokes with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Preceded in death by parents, Harland and Margaret (Fleming) Tawney, and grandson, Dana Griffiths, he is survived by son, Larry R. Tawney, Jr.; daughters, Robin (Thomas) Johnson, Amanda (Mark) Griffiths, Marcia (Shane) Riley, and Stephanie (Robert) Rollyson; ten grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren; sister, Jeannie Metheney; brothers, Donald, James, and Robert Tawney; half-siblings, Fred (Sheri) Tawney, and Glenda Tawney.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, August 19, 2022, at the VFW Post #1055, 6000 New Milford Road, Ravenna, OH 44266 from 3 - 6 PM.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Edinburg Fire Department, 6727 Tallmadge Road, Rootstown, OH 44272.
