Mass of Christian Burial for Miss Leanora Mary Wilson

SILVER LAKE - It is with heavy hearts that we announce Leanora Mary Wilson, age 25, has passed away. She went to be with God peacefully, surrounded by family after fighting a 12-year long battle with Rasmussens Encephalitis.

She was born in Akron, Ohio on July 4th, 1999, and lived her life in Silver Lake Village. She graduated from Holy Family School in 2014, and Lawrence High School in 2018, where she played volleyball, basketball, and learned to love the arts.

Leanora’s greatest loves in life were traveling, fine dining, being an amazing daughter to her mother and incredible sister to two brothers. She was able to combine those passions on several trips with her family around the world, visiting Quebec, Cancun, Rome, Prague, Budapest, Barcelona, Madrid, and Lisbon. She was most proud of her Make-A-Wish trip to Rome with her family, where she had the opportunity to visit and spend time with Pope Francis. Leanora’s only request of him was that he pray for all the people who had ever helped and prayed for her through her journey.

Leanora also loved downhill skiing, attending live concerts, and working on her drawing and crafting skills at home. She was a star swimmer for Silver Lake Country Club and enjoyed many summers growing up playing at Silver Lake with her friends and family. Her favorite time of year was her birthday, as she always said the fireworks of July 4th were a celebration in honor of her. Every day of her life she displayed perseverance, wisdom, and love beyond earthly measure and left everyone that met her in awe and with a smile.

In heaven she will join her grandparents that passed before her; Leonora Haas, and Fred and Wilda Wilson. She is survived by her mother, Noralee Haas; two brothers, Peter and Jarus Wilson; father, Barry Wilson; grandparents, Dr. Andrew J. Haas and Gram J. Mary Jayne Haas; four aunts; five uncles; thirty-seven cousins, and two furry friends, Ali and Izzy. Most importantly, she will be survived by everyone who has ever helped and prayed for her.

Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow 44224, for visitation on Friday, November 8, 2024, from 2 to 4, and 5 to 8 PM.  Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 10 AM, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 3179 Kent Road, Stow 44224. Burial Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either the Make-A-Wish Foundation ( wish.org ), or St. Eugene Parish in Cuyahoga Falls ( sainteugene.org )
