STOW-Leon J. Payne, 81, died March 4, 2010.
Born in Clendenin, WV, he served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, was a member of Grace Baptist Church and had retired from Ford Motor Co. Walton Hills Stamping Plant in 1989 with 35 years service.
Preceded in death by daughter Heidi in 2001, and by adoptive parents Lewis and Zella Payne, he is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rosanna; son Kevin; grandchildren Travis and Connie Payne; sisters Phyllis Gates, Betty Eydelloth and Blanch Wood, and brothers Orville and Gerald.
Friends may call Tuesday 5 to 8 PM at Redmon Funeral Home. Pastors Phil Hulgin and Bob Stephens and Rev. Willie Smith will conduct service Wednesday 11 AM at Grace Baptist Church, 704 N. Firestone Blvd, Akron 44306. Interment Silver Springs Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church.
