TALLMADGE - On Wednesday, September 28, 2022, after seven months of a brave battle with pancreatic cancer, Lisa Johnson, 59, opened her arms and went to join her Savior. She was confident of her heavenly home. She trusted in Jesus and is with Him.
Lisa was a well-loved wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Despite being diagnosed with cystic fibrosis shortly after birth, Lisa did everything she could to help others. She was always looking for ways to bless her nurses, doctors, and aides while in the hospital. Whether it was volunteering at Chapel Hill Christian School or CVCA, (while her girls were in school), she was always involved and found ways to be useful and productive. She did her work with a smile on her face and often humming at the same time! She believed in the power of prayer and was involved in the Moms in Touch prayer group for many years.
She enjoyed being outside and working in the yard and usually had a big vegetable garden. The harvest was always shared with others. Her time and efforts were spent on her home because she loved her daughters and grandchildren and wanted them to be comfortable there. She was not afraid to take on a small house project with her husband and knew how to handle a drill! In the last month of her life, she completed a life-long desire to skydive! She had no fear of heights, speed, or falling!
Lisa fought her battle like she did everything; with grace, strength, and a will to live. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Bauer, and brother, Rick Bauer, and mother-in-law, Bobbie Johnson.
She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Jeff; daughters, Steph (Brad) and Stacie; grandchildren, Brynlee and Beckett; mother, Gwen; sister, Lynn (Kent); sister in law, Tena, and nephews, Kellan (Sarah), Derek, Clayton, and Jon; father-in-law, Carvel; sister-in-law, Pam (Jim) McHugh, and their children, Jon, Brandon (Melissa), Jamie (Ben), and Bethany; brother-in-law, Joel; sister-in-law, Susie, and their children, Jenna (Mitch), Benjamin (Lauren), and KK, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and her dear friend, Vinny.
Special thanks to Dr. Stern at Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital; Akron Children’s Hospital nurses and aides, CF Clinic and Doctors Robert Stone, Titus Shears, and Thomas Olbrych. Thanks also to the Cleveland Clinic transplant team who gave us 17 more years with her.
We also want to thank the team at Crossroads Hospice: Dave, Heather, Amber, and Brian. We appreciate everything you did over the last few months. Thank you for organizing the skydiving trip. That is a memory that none of us will forget.
