Lois Arlene Meeker

C UYAHOGA FALLS - Lois Arlene Meeker, 96, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2025.

Lois was born in Larwill, Indiana, on September 10, 1928, to Willard and Ida [Holycross] Wilkinson. As a child, her family moved to Elkhart, Indiana, where she graduated in 1947 from Elkhart High School. On May 15, 1948, Lois married James [Jim] Meeker, with whom she celebrated over 70 years of marriage until his passing in 2019. Lois spent numerous years in various administrative positions, including secretary to the Youth Ministry at First United Methodist Church, and finally retiring in 1996 as office manager for the Ohio Ballet.

Lois and Jim enjoyed traveling, including trips to Russia and Germany. In addition to being members for over 50 years at the First United Methodist Church, Lois and Jim were long-time volunteers at both E.J. Thomas Hall and the Akron Civic Theater. Additionally, Lois was a member of the BK Chapter of P.E.O., a professional women's altruistic organization.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, James; infant daughter, Karen Anne; her parents, and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Kenneth and Margaret Meeker.  She was also preceded in death by her sister, Charlyn High, and brother, Donald Wilkinson.

Left to cherish her memory are son, Steven [Regina] Meeker; granddaughters, Amy, Stacy and, Becky; daughter, Marsha McKenna; granddaughters, Jennifer, Karen, Kelly and Melissa; son, Vince [Marty] Meeker, along with 16 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 4 PM, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, 44224, where friends may call from 2 PM until time of service.

A graveside service at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart, IN, is planned for a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gift and Memorial Fund at First United Methodist Church, 245 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls 44221.

Additionally, the family would like to express gratitude to the staff of the North Unit at Bath Creek fo r their care and compassion.
