Loraine M. Mace

August 26, 1945 — March 14, 2024

CUYAHOGA FALLS - Loraine M. Mace, 78, died March 14, 2024.

Born in Akron, Loraine was a resident of Cuyahoga Falls and Stow. She was a fiercely independent woman and lifelong entrepreneur and businesswoman known for her wicked sense of humor. As a single mother, she raised her four children, (Larry, Gina, David, and Tim), by waiting tables at local iconic restaurants, Altieri’s in Stow and Gus’ Chalet in Akron, and later became an account manager at Flex Team Staffing.

After her children graduated from Stow High School, she relocated to Colorado Springs, Colorado, to be closer to her sister, Rita Lloyd. Loraine always had an incredible sense of style and fashion with her ever-changing perfectly coiffed hair and make-up. She decided to put that passion into her next business venture and opened The Unique Boutique, a women’s fashion and accessory store. She would further expand The Unique Boutique into a restaurant and tea room, as cooking, baking, and sharing recipes were her other passions in life. Loraine was an amazing cook and was known for her legendary potato salad, cole slaw, BBQ ribs, pot roast, and unbelievable Thanksgiving dinners.

In 2006, Loraine moved to Rancho Mirage, California, to be closer to her son, David, and his partner, Chris.  Not ready to retire yet, she opened yet another business venture in real estate and worked for the City of Rancho Mirage Chamber of Commerce.

Preceded in death by her parents, Richard Woodcock and Doris Lewis; sisters, Nancy Hagberg, and Rita Lloyd, and her son, Larry Felean, she is survived by her sons, David Mace (Chris Berlingo), and Tim Mace; daughter, Gina Higginbotham; grandchildren, Dallas and Dalton Felean, and Ciena and Hunter Higginbotham; brother, Richard (Becky) Woodcock, and sister, Sarah (Bob) Fenton.

Pastor Jim Case will conduct service, 7 PM, Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, 44224. Friends may call, 5 PM, to service time, Tuesday, at the funeral home.
