Louise Ellen Whitman

FAIRLAWN - Our dear mother, Louise Ellen Whitman, left us on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at the age of 92. She was born in Elkins, West Virginia, during the depression and married her high school sweetheart, John Evan Whitman, with whom she spent 59 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in 2011.

Louise earned a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics Education from West Virginia University. She completed post graduate work at Akron University earning a teaching certificate.

Her professional career included recipe development for Vlasic and Pillsbury, gas appliance consulting, and food photography styling. Later in her life, Louise taught food and nutrition at St. Vincent - St. Mary’s High School. Her countless hours of volunteer work were diverse, spanning decades, including many years with Akron’s Christ Child Society. She was loved by everyone she met.

Louise made her home in Silver Lake, where she lived 56 years. She was an authentic loving, selfless mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be sorely missed.

Louise is survived by daughter, Jayne Whitman; sons, John and Greg Whitman; granddaughter, Sara Whitman, and grandson, Aidan Whitman Baker.

Her final days were spent at the Village of St. Edward’s in Fairlawn. A special shout out to all the staff angels who work there.

Louise’s tribute service will be held at Redmon Funeral Home, located at 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, 44224 on Monday, June 10, 2024, beginning at 4 PM. Tributes to Louise will begin at 5:30 PM.
