HUDSON - Marian (Miller) Lowrey, aged 93, passed away peacefully at home on July 7, 2024.
She loved growing up in the small town of Brownsville, Minnesota, along the Mississippi River, with her five siblings. She attended St. Francis School of Nursing in La Crosse, WI, and enjoyed telling stories of her nursing career, including working with the iron lung and on an early heart transplant team.
She married her husband, Don Lowrey, in 1960, and they enjoyed 55 years of marriage before his passing. Marian spent the majority of her married life in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she enjoyed volunteering at a local food pantry, playing bridge, sewing, knitting, and traveling.
She attended St. Paul Community of Faith and had many roles within the church family. She enjoyed baking, and was known for her sweet rolls, peanut brittle, and lemon meringue pie. Marian has resided in Hudson, Ohio, for the past nine years, and enjoyed many activities in Northeast Ohio with her daughter and family. She also enjoyed visits to Texas to see her son and family.
Marian is survived by her two children, Mark (Cheryl) Lowrey, and Karen (Brian) McCaffrey; grandchildren, Sarah and Kate Lowrey, Josh, Justin (fiancé Stacey), and Jacob (Anne) McCaffrey; brother, Marv (Etta) Miller; sister, Marlene Levendoski, sister-in-law, Lorene Miller, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two dear friends, Sallie Kilgore, and Kathy Smith.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, August 2, 2024, at 2 PM, at Riverwood Chapel, 1407 Fairchild Avenue, Kent, OH 44240. A coffee and tea reception will follow.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Hudson Grande and Traditions Hospice for their care of Marian in her last few months.
